Who are you?
I am a teacher in the NSW school system and hold an undergraduate
degree in Professional Communications and History, along with postgraduate
qualifications to teach English and Human Society in its Environment
(HSIE/SOSE). I am accredited with the NSW Institute of Teachers and have
current experience teaching Years 7-12 English and History. My area of
particular expertise and interest is senior English (Higher School
Certificate), but I also enjoy bringing English alive for middle-schoolers and
primary aged students.
Prior to becoming a teacher I worked in the media, first as a print and radio journalist, then in public relations. Sure, these jobs were fun but not nearly as enjoyable as encouraging young people to reach their best potential, and sharing my love of language and all its uses. Now that's a cool way to earn a living! Actually, being a teacher is more than just a job. It's a way of life, an identity. I love to read, I love to write, I love to view and listen, and in the course of pursuing these passions, I've learned a lot from other enthusiastic educators and have been fortunate to share in their knowledge and experience. This website is my way of paying forward the support and encouragement of all these people, and in turn, sharing some of my own favourite resources. |
What is readwritelearnwell.com?
I began readwritelearnwell.com because I believe having strong literacy skills is the basis for academic success - in all subjects - and in life. Even those who think they don't like 'English' will find they need skills in it to comprehend, to analyse, and to critically respond - be it to a Maths or Science exam paper, or a biased media report, or the persuasiveness of advertising. English IS all around us, in everything we do.

Disclosure
ReadWrite LearnWell is a
participant in two affiliate programs.
1) The AmazonServices LLC Associates Program. This is an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn small advertising fees through various linking tools.
2) The Book Depository, the UK online book store that offers free delivery to Australian customers (and others).
When considering the option of adding affiliate links to this website, I decided to limit them to relevant companies that I felt I could honestly recommend through personal experience. Both Amazon and The Book Depository have always provided an excellent range and superior customer service.
If you would like to support ReadWrite LearnWell, please make your purchases by following either of the store's links. You will not be charged any extra, but a small commission will be paid to the author of this site, thus enabling it to continue.
