Hello!
Thanks for dropping by. I’ve got a lot of ideas for this blog, but I’m hoping you won’t be backward in coming forward in suggesting other topics that we can talk about here. Just to start you thinking, I thought I’d start by sharing a few ideas of mine.

The thing about the way English is taught in NSW schools – and it will be at least this year before the Australian Curriculum replaces that currently taught by NSW teachers, but English, as a subject, is not just about reading books. These days, there is a much greater appreciation of ALL the ways and means by which we communicate.  And that includes the printed word in book form, in digital form, in poetic form, in musical, dramatic, visual and filmic forms.  Books, songs, movies, posters, cartoons, websites, poems, biographies, newspaper articles, documentaries…. See what I mean? English, these days, offers such great scope to enjoy compositions of all shapes and sizes.

But that's only part of the context.
